AT THE Y, FAMILIES GROW STRONGER TOGETHER

Greater Scranton YMCA

The Greater Scranton YMCA is a cause-driven non-profit organization that focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We believe that positive, lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

At the Y, we take great pride in our work to strengthen our community and help all of us be our best selves. We provide a place to play, to learn, to be healthy, to eat well, and to give back. We give working parents childcare, young adults job opportunities, seniors a way to connect and children a safe place to go. We believe that everyone—no matter who they are or where they’re from— deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Everything the Y does is in service of making sure people and communities thrive.

The Greater Scranton YMCA offers something for everyone in our community. For generations, our YMCA has taught children, adults and families how to be safe in and around the water through lifesaving swim lessons. We are proud to provide older adults in our community with numerous opportunities for social interaction and exercise. From summer day camp to chronic disease prevention and from youth sports and enrichment programs to early childhood education and programs designed to combat the achievement gap, the Greater Scranton YMCA makes a profound impact on the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

At the Greater Scranton YMCA, you’ll find more than just a place to work out. With opportunities to connect with new people, develop new skills and explore new interests, you’ll discover new passions and a greater sense of purpose. Your membership will bring about meaningful change not just within yourself, but in your community, too.

A family membership at the Greater Scranton YMCA includes group exercise and water aerobics classes, child watch services while you exercise, access to the pools and gyms, and more. Perhaps the most beneficial feature of a family membership is free youth programs! Our staff and volunteers encourage children to reach their full potential. Sports and recreation at the YMCA create a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, learn to work as a team and connect with positive role models – all in an inclusive environment. Programs are for children ranging in age from three to 14.

The Greater Scranton YMCA is a charity turning no one away for an inability to pay. We are proud to provide financial assistance to children, adults and families from our community, allowing them to benefit from all the Y has to offer.
