Stingray Swim Team
The YMCA Swim Team is based on the YMCA Principles of competitive swimming and character values. We believe that everybody swims and everybody wins.All fees are season fees & cannot be prorated for late registration or for those not completing the season.
- ALL SWIMMERS MUST BE YMCA MEMBERS
- Booster Fees: There is a $25 Spring/Summer Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Spring Summer Team, and a $35 Fall/Winter Season Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Fall Winter Team. These fees should be paid when registering your swimmer(s)
All of the above needs to be completed prior to the swimmer(s) first practice. No swimmers may can be admitted into practice until all of the above has been completed.
Each year we normally offer the following competitive programs:
- Fall Clinics (Normally offered in August & September
- Fall/Winter Swim team normally begins the first Monday in October & continues until the the YMCA District Meet deadline. after that point only District Qualifyers continue practice.
- Spring Clinics (Normally offered in April)
- Spring/Summer Swim team normally begins the first Monday in May.
01 Fall Clinic #1: Freestyle & Backstroke
Our Competitive Stroke Technique clinics are for swimmers ages 6 through 18 years of age. Swimmers will be placed in groups according to their swimming ability. During the clinics, new or younger swimmers will receive instruction on swimming the strokes, and experienced swimmers will spend time refining their strokes in order to swim faster. Each clinic will also include instruction/refinements on the starts and turns for the swim strokes being covered for that clinic.
- Clinic #1: Freestyle & Backstroke
- Monday & Wednesdays, September 8, 10, 15, &17: 6:30-7:30 pm
- Clinic #2: Breaststroke & Butterfly
- Monday & Wednesdays, September 22, 24, 29 & October 1: 6:30-7:30pm
Swimmers who are new to competitive swimming Must be comfortable in deep water, & able to swim 25 yards (1 length of our pool).
The clinic also gives our coaches a chance to assess new swimmers’ readiness to join our swim team.

03 Level I YMCA Swim Official Certification Courses
This course is designed to certify officials for the YMCA of the USA’s Competitive Swimming Program in the areas of Stroke & Turn Judge, Relay Take-off Judge, Place Judge and Timer. The course focuses on the specific duties and responsibilities of the above officials prior to, during and after a meet. The course also familiarizes the participants with the facilities requirements for the meet, matters relating to eligibility to participate in and entry into the meet, and the roles of the Chief Judge, Starter and Referee. Following the course, the participants must complete an on-line test and attain a score of 80% or higher.
PREREQUISITES: New candidates for certification as YMCA Level I Official must be at least 21 years old and be associated with a local YMCA sponsored swim team.

USA-S Certified Officials who meet age and participation requirements for Level II may go directly into Level II without first becoming a Level I Certified Official.
Candidates for re-certification must have worked at least 12 sessions as a YMCA certified official over the prior three-year certification period and present a completed Record of Meet Experience form evidencing such sessions worked. For dual YMCA/USA-S certified officials, up to six of the required sessions may be from USA-S meets.
04 Administrative Swim Official Certifications (AO)
This course is designed to certify administrative (dry deck) swim officials for the YMCA of the USA’s Competitive Swimming Program. The course focuses on the specific duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Swim Official prior to, during and after a meet. The course also briefly reviews for the participants the facilities and staffing requirements for a meet, including matters relating to eligibility to participate in and entry into the meet. Following the course, the participants must complete an on-line test and attain a score of 80% or higher
